Now What »
Foreword by Mike Godzwa
You may not have realized it, but your time away this weekend was spiritual discipline. Dallas Willard defines spiritual discipline as, “an activity in my power that enables me to accomplish what I can't do by direct effort.” In other words, it’s a specific step that we can take now to help us reach goals that are beyond our effort. You took specific steps to go on retreat. Arranging your schedule, registering and paying, packing and traveling; all were things you had the power to do to. You did what you could to make sure you were there and that enabled you to experience things that may have been difficult or impossible before. Hearing from God was made possible because you positioned yourself in the place where you could be receptive.
